The ram air freefall progression system uses manoeuverable - but large and docile - square parachutes that can easily be steered to a marked landing area for a tip toe landing.

Your first few jumps will be done using the static line system. This means that your parachute will be automatically deployed in the first few seconds that you fall away from the plane.

You will do a minimum of 5 static line jumps, practising your 'stable spread' freefall position and then rehearsing ripcord pulls.

Your instructor will assess your jumps before clearing you to do your first freefall descent and deploying the parachute yourself. You will then move onto longer freefall descents and freefall manoeuvres.

It takes an average of 25-30 freefall jumps before you are awarded your CATEGORY 8 status which means you are cleared to safely skydive without direct instructor supervision.
